If you’ve ever dreamed of an elopement that blends wild adventure with heartfelt intimacy, Kiera & Tim’s Kununurra elopement is one to remember. With a lakeside ceremony overlooking the Kimberley’s famous Elephant Rock, a helicopter ride straight from their vows, and their one-year-old son by their side, this day was everything an adventure elopement should be… raw, joyful, and unforgettable.
Kununurra, tucked away in the East Kimberley of Western Australia, is one of the most spectacular backdrops for couples chasing something different for their wedding day. Think red rock escarpments, winding rivers, hidden gorges, and skies that glow gold at sunset.
For couples like Kiera & Tim, who wanted a day that was more about connection, adventure, and family than tradition, Kununurra offered the perfect canvas.

Kiera & Tim chose to tie the knot at Katie-Mary’s property, a private location with jaw-dropping views across the lake and straight out to Elephant Rock.
This spot is ideal for couples looking for a wedding or elopement in Kununurra – with a lakeside ceremony space, three on-site villas, and even camping options for guests who want to make a weekend of it. Adding to the magic, Katie-Mary isn’t just the property owner, she’s also a celebrant – which made the day feel even more personal and seamless.
Surrounded by their closest family and with little Albie toddling around, the ceremony was heartfelt, simple, and full of love.
After sealing the deal, the adventure took off (literally). A helicopter landed just meters from their ceremony spot to take the newlyweds on a once-in-a-lifetime Kimberley journey.
Flying over endless ranges, rivers, and rugged red country, the couple touched down at three epic locations for their bridal portraits. And they didn’t hold back!!! Kiera & Tim were absolute legends, climbing over rocks and hiking through wild terrain in their wedding gear to get the shot.
There was plenty of laughter along the way too, like Tim’s mullet flapping in the helicopter wind, a candid moment that perfectly sums up their fun-loving vibe.

One of the most special parts of the day was its intimacy. Instead of a huge guest list, Kiera & Tim kept it close, celebrating with only their nearest and dearest. Their son Albie was right there with them the whole time, soaking up cuddles and giggles, making the celebration even more meaningful.
This was a wedding that truly reflected who they are, adventurous, family-focused, and full of joy.
It was a celebration that felt deeply personal: raw, real, and absolutely unforgettable, much like Kununurra itself.

If you’re considering an elopement or wedding in the Kimberley, here are a few takeaways from Kiera & Tim’s day:
Lean into the Kimberley vibe: Be prepared to hike, climb, and laugh your way through the wild beauty of this region – it’s all part of the story.
Choose a unique location: Katy-Marie’s property offers stunning views of Elephant Rock plus accommodation and a celebrant – it doesn’t get easier than that.
Think about adventure portraits: A helicopter ride or 4×4 adventure can take you to incredible landscapes for once-in-a-lifetime photos.
Keep it intimate: Inviting only your closest family (or even just the two of you) makes for a relaxed and meaningful day.

Kiera & Tim’s day shows exactly why adventure elopements in Kununurra are so special. You don’t have to stick to tradition or sacrifice intimacy – instead, you get to craft a day that’s 100% yours.
Whether it’s standing on the edge of Elephant Rock, flying over ancient ranges, or sharing a sunset with the love of your life, an elopement in the Kimberley is more than just a wedding. It’s an experience, an adventure, and a story you’ll carry forever.
